I just spent one hour with my children.
Playing. Laughing. Tickling. Cuddling.
Wrestling. Reading books. Having a tea party.
One solid, uninterupted hour.
It was great.
I don't give them that much uninterupted play time too often. It's usually a little here and a little there interspersed with wiping off counters, fixing meals or snack, putting in a load of laundry, answering the telephone.
Like I said, it was great.
They liked it too.
Now they are napping.
And that is great too!

1. My husband is a solo pastor serving his first congregation.
2. We live in rural South Dakota (that defines most of South Dakota, actually).
3. Our little piece of rural SD is 80 miles from the nearest town large enough to have a Wal-Mart, etc.
4. We have a three-year-old and an eleven-month-old.
5. Our average Sunday morning attendance is about 45.
6. We currently have the youngest children in the church.
7. Until recently, they were the only ones below school age.
8. The church nursery operates only during the sermon portion of the service.
9. As often as possible I situate my family in the third row--out of five.
10. There are three sections of five rows.
11. All this really means is that we're very visible no matter where we are.
12. Hence the title of this blog.
13. Above all, and no matter how it may sound, we actually are very happy to be here!
